- Niels Merkx: inducted into the CGN Hall of Fame
Last Saturday evening during the CGN Championships 2023 Niels Merkx was inducted into the CGN Hall of Fame
Niels has had many roles and still has several within CGN. Through Indoor Percussion (including Percussion Unlimited) he came into contact with the CGN competition floor and has never left it since. After some different roles, Niels joined the CGN Board and was the man who did all communication to the participants. He also arranged everything for sponsors and guests of CGN. When we had the vacancy for an ICT specialist within the Board, Niels also took this on. Under his leadership we built a whole new Internet and intranet.
A few years ago, Niels chose to leave the Board. He wanted more time for other things. But he said… I really want to keep doing something for CGN, just not with such a big responsibility in the Board anymore. Let me do things in the background. After a short break, Niels immediately took up a number of projects, including the intranet. He also participated in the team that realized all online competitions. We can always ask Niels for help to act as a speaker, like today, or if we need some adjustments to the Internet or Intranet, or to arrange a process for registrations or registrations. Niels is someone who keeps an overview, on the one hand asks the right questions and on the other hand takes action so that it all runs smoothly again for the participants.
For all these reasons, CGN Board has decided to induct Niels Merkx in the CGN Hall of Fame.
