It has been the icing on the cake for many years, but this time it is perhaps more true than ever: the CGN Championships are the real climax of the special 2022 season. An international field of 46 groups makes it a real party in Eindhoven. For the many audiences, but also for and with each other.
Of course it is a competition and in the end it is about the points and the prizes. But for enthusiasm and emotion, everyone gets the maximum score this year.
Speaking of those scores, you can find all the details here.
But we prefer to talk about everything else that happens on this day in Eindhoven. For example, a special person has been posthumously honored with an induction into the Hall of Fame. Robert Strobos was killed in a fatal traffic accident last year. He had been a great ambassador of our activity for many years. Both individually, at the I&E events, and with and for many groups. Are there actually colorguard groups that have not been directly or indirectly 'touched' by him in recent years? It is an impressive minute-long standing ovation in the Indoor Sports Centre when the award is presented by Paul Doop to Robert's father.
It sums up the day and perhaps the whole past period best. It's a laugh and a tear and it's going despite the setbacks.
We are getting ready for one more competition event in 2022: the Virtual Solo & Ensemble Championships on Sunday 15 May. There too we will miss Robert, but still make it a great day together.
