Contest Wijchen hopefully the last contest to be cancelled
The CGN board had to decide to cancel the Wijchen show on 5 February. It was a difficult and very disappointing decision we had to take but we had no other choice according to Chairman Paul Doop. We had to decide this week and based on the current situation and with the current COVID19 measurements we are not allowed to organize an event. We are hoping that during the upcoming press conference on 25 January the government will announce that competitions and events will be allowed as of 26 January. We do not expect that a paying audience will be allowed at the show on 5 February. We expect that even IF the government would allow a paying audience, this would be restricted with the 1.5 m or with a certain amount of people per square meter. This would impact the revenue substantially which would make it from a financial perspective irresponsible to organize the event.
Having said this the CGN board is more optimistic about the rest of the season. We expect to be able and allowed to organize the event on 19 February in Almere with a paid audience. Also the Almere location is substantially bigger than Wijchen which makes it easier to organize an event taking all the health precautions into account. The CGN board will take a decision on the Almere show shortly after the press conference on 25 January. We hope the units will take the time to finish their products and decide to register for the shows in Almere (19 February) , Leeuwarden (12 March) and the CGN Championships (26 March)
